The Challenge

The Occasion: A Historic Return to the Court

After 45 years, the energy in Nashville was electric as Vanderbilt University prepared for the return of its Women's Volleyball Program. This wasn't just a game, it was a statement. To mark the occasion, the university constructed a custom, one-time outdoor venue - a move that required a production partner capable of bringing "stadium-quality" visuals to a temporary space.

The Challenge: Building a Stadium From the Ground Up

When you are playing on a temporary court, you don't have the luxury of a built-in scoreboard. Temporary venues are notorious for last minute changes and In a standard facility setup, using modular LED walls requires extreme precision and a permanent structure planned weeks in advance.

Vanderbilt University needed a solution that could provide:

  • Live Scoring: keeping the crowd informed before, during and after every point.
  • Broadcast feeds: ensuring every seat felt like a front-row experience.
  • Revenue Generation: delivering high-impact advertising for university sponsors.
  • Flexibility in potential shifting to site plan.

The Solution

The Expert Solution: LED Mobile Screens

We deployed three (3) 13'W x 7'T LED mobile units, strategically positioned to create a 360-degree visual centerpiece throughout the venue. Why mobile units?

  • Dynamic positioning - As the infrastructure around the court evolved during the first-time setup, our units allowed for instant adjustments. Unlike fixed modular walls, our screens feature swivel capabilities, allowing us to fine-tune not only the trailer position but fine-tune the viewing angle of the screen to maximize sight lines.
  • Onboard power: traditional LED setups require long cable runs from external generators. Each mobile unit features an onboard generator, allowing us to save clients money from generators, and yellow-jacket cable protectors in high-traffic pedestrian areas.
  • Cloud-Based and Easy Control System Integration: Each mobile unit contains an onboard production rack with a NovaStar controller and Starlink internet connection. This further allows events to save money not having to run expensive fiber that can be easily damaged in high foot-traffic areas.
